This is a remarkably simple design, whose strength lies in the ingenuity of planning and the spartan expression of detailing. Yet behind this simplicity is a critical analysis of a legal work environment, resulting in discarding the particular and expected legal ambience in favour of spaces with character more suited to the office culture of this client.

Efficient and rational work environments create a calm, open and communicative character for this leading legal practice. The interior includes private offices of varying size, workstation support areas, extensive equipment and storage areas combined with ‘public’ functions such as reception, conference rooms and library.

Offices have been reduced in size through customised design, creating ergonomic and efficient environments with built-in storage systems, bench units and pivoting meeting tables. The reception and conference rooms are a series of interrelated rooms with the flexibility of allowing seamless reconfiguration to accommodate functions and special events.

The success of the project was recognised for its design excellence by being awarded the AIA National Interior Architecture Award.
