Following an international design competition, fjmt has been selected to design this significant tertiary educational facility. The project is an opportunity to create not only a landmark state-of-the-art laboratory, work place and teaching complex, but also a new centre and heart to the Science Precinct of the University of Oxford.

The proposed architectural form is not only functional, efficient and appropriately sustainable but innovative, dramatic and exciting, creating a new landmark at the centre of this important precinct.

Whilst contemporary in expression, the proposed building will complement the unique heritage qualities of Oxford to create a cohesive urban response.

The new complex will provide an additional 20,000sqm of floorspace to one of the world’s leading research institutions, including a mixture of 40 flexible research laboratories, teaching laboratories, lecture theatres, seminar spaces, workplace, café and integrated public domain.
