The Eastern Avenue Auditorium and Lecture Theatre Complex creatively manipulates architectural form and the surrounding spaces to augment the public domain and increase usable open space while creating an array of pleasant and flexible teaching environments.
The project consists of a 500 seat auditorium, a 200 seat lecture theatre and 12 seminar rooms. The facility is both suitable for general teaching use by the University and as a conference venue for the wider community.
Innovative systems of environmental control provide a mixed-mode operation for the building, delivering an initial low cost solution with long-term benefit through its operational economy.
The project received an RAIA Public Building Commendation.
