fjmt was commissioned to update and further develop UTS’s ‘Broadway Physical Concept Plan’ prepared in 2000. A significant part of the update is the preparation of development envelopes for three UTS development sites. Two of these front Broadway.

The sites are the forecourt to the main tower and the “Broadway Site” - the car park next to the former the Fairfax Building - and a third site on Thomas Street. The master plan update will realise the potential of these sites, especially in the context of the pending development of the adjacent CUB Site, on the opposite side of Broadway.

Key outcomes of the master plan update include: maximising development potential; defining relationships of new buildings with adjacent buildings and spaces; providing massing studies without overt architectural expression; and describing functional and efficient floor plates, within the framework of the City of Sydney’s aspirations for this key area.
