Among our current and recent commercial projects are the 6 GreenStar-targeted Darling Walk campus development for the Commonwealth Bank; an emblematic high-rise office tower in central Sydney; the Shangri-La Hotel in The Rocks; as well as low-rise commercial developments, hotels and function centers, mixed use developments, collaborative university-industry facilities, adaptive reuse projects, retail and entertainment complexes, commercial refurbishments and contemporary office workplace environments.

Commercial projects demand great invention and rigor in the design of workplace, retail, and hotel environments and associated building systems, together with the associated discipline to achieve high efficiencies, and sustainable outcomes with an economy of means. Equally, they are the making of cities, the creation of buildings that contribute to the street-life, the local micro-climate and the skyline. The ‘clients’ for these projects are not only the sponsor or developer but the broader community and the many and varied users of our cities.

fjmt has undertaken a range of commercial projects in Australia and overseas. Often these commissions are awarded through international and local design competitions. Our approach to such commissions is to raise the significance of each project, no matter how modest, to high levels of design excellence.
